Buildings Subject to Demolition Delay

Background on the Demolition Delay Bylaw

The Town of Belmont adopted the Demolition Delay Bylaw in 2013 as a tool to encourage the retention of the most significant, unprotected historic buildings in Belmont that contribute to our Town's character, and amended the Bylaw at the 2017 Annual Town Meeting. The purpose of the Bylaw is to provide the Town time to work with developers to identify alternatives to demolition of historic buildings deemed to be Significant. The Town's 2016 Historic Resources Survey was used to identify historic assets and to develop the List of Significant Buildings adopted at the 2017 Annual Town Meeting.
