The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Tesla have announced the recall of approximately 10,500 Powerwall 2 AC Battery Power Systems sold nationwide between November 2020 and December 2022
- This recall is due to a risk that the lithium-ion battery cells may overheat, which can result in smoke, fire, and serious injury.
Actions for Owners:
- Ensure your Powerwall 2 system remains online. Tesla has remotely discharged affected online units to minimize immediate risk until a replacement can be installed.
- Check the Tesla App for notification on whether your specific unit is included in the recall.
