The Fire Prevention Division is responsible for issuing and enforcing permits under Massachusetts General Law 148 and 527 CMR (Fire Prevention Regulations). The division also is responsible for:
Scheduling inspections and following up on any violations found during those inspections
Scheduling fire drills
Investigating any violations of Massachusetts General Law 148 or the Mass Fire Prevention Regulations
Reviewing building plans for compliance with the fire protection aspects of the Massachusetts State Building Code in cooperation with the Office of Community Development
Inspect building projects for compliance with applicable laws and codes
Schedule smoke detector inspections upon sale of real estate in Town in compliance with Massachusetts General Law chapter 148, section 26F
